10 Best Affordable Sweater Dresses for Fall
Today I’m rounding up the 10 best affordable sweater dresses for fall! One of my favorite styles to wear each fall is a sweater dress. I love how soft and cozy I feel in a sweater dress! Sweater dresses are also so easy to dress up or down. You can keep the look casual with a sneaker or flat boot or dress it up with heels or booties.
Sweater dresses are also a perfect pick for holiday dressing. A cozy sweater dress with a turtleneck is perfect with tall boots and tights. A midi style looks great with ankle boots. I’m loving all of the sweater dress styles with puff sleeves. These styles look perfect with heels for an elegant date night!
Last year I looked everywhere for the perfect cream sweater dress. This year I finally found it! Bonus, it’s under $50 and I found lots of other cute styles, all under $100! Here are the 10 best affordable sweater dresses for fall!

15 Ways to Reduce Stress
We are all feeling the strain lately. Combine living through a pandemic, civil unrest, back to school, and an election. I got stressed out just writing that. A few weeks back I had a particularly tense week and asked my readers on Instagram what the my do to de-stress. Here I’ve listed 15 ways to reduce stress – some from readers and some of my own.
Start with a hot shower or bath
Time permitting I like to soak in a hot bath. But, some days only a shower will do. Even if I can only squeeze it in while the girls are napping, a quick hot shower helps immensely.
Add some aromatherapy
I like to add a few drops of essential oils to the floor of the shower. I’ve heard amazing things about this Tata Harper Stress Treatment oil. If I’m taking a bath I like adding a lavender bath bomb.
Light a candle
I like to keep the lights off and just light a candle to help with tuning out the noise. Not only is this Voluspa candle beautiful, the lavender scent is perfect for helping you relax.
Grab a cold drink
I love the combination of an ice cold drink with a super hot shower. Add ten drops of this rescue remedy essence to a glass of water to help with fear, impatience, and focus.
Add some soothing sounds
For maximum relaxation, turn on some soothing sounds. The White Noise app has some great nature sounds. Or, listen to a story being read to you by someone with a soothing voice.
Use some luxurious bath products
As long as your trying to relax you might as well get clean with some luxurious products. I recently got a chance to try Necessaire’s line of clean bath products. Their products are pH balanced and loaded with vitamins to give your body the same TLC you give your face. Get 30% off your first purchase through my link here!
Put on a fluffy robe
Last year I bought myself this cozy robe as a postpartum gift to myself. Best purchase ever! Nothing feels better than a soft, fluffy robe after a hot shower.
Put some comfy slippers on while you’re at it
Another postpartum purchase that I’m totally thrilled with. After I had Margot my feet ached. I guess they were getting back to their normal size after being strained from pregnancy. I knew when I was pregnant with Ella I needed to get some slippers that were not only cozy, but also supportive. Since we’ve been spending most of our time at home I’ve ended up wearing these slippers every day for almost a year!
Give yourself a massage
I tend to carry stress in my neck, shoulders, and upper back. I love to foam roll after a hot shower. I’ve also heard amazing things about this Shiatsu massager!
Put on some comfy pajamas
I recently got a few pairs of bamboo pajamas from Cozy Earth. There’s a reason they’re one of Oprah’s favorite things! The bamboo fibers are sustainable, wicking, and help with temperature control. You can get 50% with my code – LAURENELIZ50!
Use some room spray
I like to continue the aromatherapy in my bedroom. This room spray adds a nice, soothing scent to the sheets before I climb in.
Curl up under a weighted blanket
Weighted blankets are said to relieve anxiety and improve sleep quality. This one has great reviews and adds weight without adding heat.
Read a good book
I have to force myself to turn away from the news and nothing holds my attention like a good book. When I’m feeling stressed I need to turn to something light and fluffy. I recently started American Royals and I’m loving it!
Or do something with your hands
Alternatively, sometimes it’s nice to do an activity. I recently ordered an embroidery kit on Etsy. I’m planning to learn how to embroider while listening to a book on Audible.
Try Yoga Nidra
When you’re ready for sleep, turn on some Yoga Nidra. Even though Yoga is in the title, there is no physical movement involved. Just lay down and get comfy and follow the guided meditation to get you ready for sleep!
Ok, I’m more relaxed just from writing that. I’m definitely adding some of these totems to my wish list. Do you have any relaxation tips that aren’t on my list?

My Favorite Leopard Pieces
As we inch closer to fall, I like to start transitioning my wardrobe to pieces I can wear now and later. One way I like to do that is by incorporating fall prints into wear now silhouettes. Leopard print is always one of my favorites for fall! Here I mixed leopard prints in different scales. But, there are so many ways to wear it! I really treat leopard print like a neutral. Of course you can always wear it with black or tan. But, I also think it adds a fun pop with a solid color, or even paired with stripes! Below I’ve rounded up some of my favorite leopard pieces to wear now and into fall!

Minimal Summer Makeup Routine
I’ve finally found it!
A minimal summer makeup routine with high SPF that still looks great! And I can do it in under five minutes.
Of course I’m barely seeing anyone else, but it makes me feel better to have a little makeup on. So, here’s what I’ve been using!
Step One: Skinbetter Science Tone Smart SPF 68 Sunscreen Compact
This stuff is awesome! It’s a physical sunscreen with a high SPF that makes your skin look amazing. It adjusts to match your skin tone and blurs imperfections. It works well as a primer under foundation. But, these days I’m using it alone to get that “your skin but better” look. It comes with a little anti-microbial pad to apply and it only take a few swipes!
Step Two: Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer
I love this concealer! It’s full coverage without being dry. I would say it’s semi matte. And it lasts all day! It doesn’t crease under my eyes and doesn’t end up looking streaky. It’s so good! I wear shade 145 and apply with a damp blender.
Step Three: Anastasia Brow Wiz
This brow pencil has a cult following for a reason! I love that it doesn’t need a sharpener and has the little spooky on the other end. It’s pretty creamy so it applies really fast without having to go over and over. I brush my brows down and trace along the top, brush up and trace the bottom, and then fill in. Easy peasy! I wear shade taupe.
Step Four: Diorshow Waterproof Mascara
I had lash extensions for years. But, after they grew out in quarantine I had to go back to mascara. And I don’t think I’m going to go back to extensions! I used a lash serum to grow my lashes back out and I use an eyelash curler before I apply the mascara. (I heat it up with my hair dryer first so my curl holds.) My lashes are pretty long and their blonde so I use waterproof mascara to avoid getting raccoon eyes. The Diorshow Waterproof is the only one I’ve found that holds my curl while giving volume and length! I’m also interested in trying this Pat McGrath one I’ve heard good things about!
Step Five: Glossier Cloud Paint cream blush
I have naturally rosy cheeks but after I apply my tinted sunscreen and concealer I need to add a little life back into my face. I use just a dab of the Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff to perk myself up a little bit!
Step Six: Buxom Lip Gloss
I loooove these glosses! They are highly pigmented and a little minty to slightly plump your pout. I love the color and shine it gives my lips without making them super slick and sticky. I’ve used the color Dolly for years and always have a backup tube on hand!
What makeup do you swear by?

Mini Dresses
It is officially August and summer is not over yet! As the temps continue to stay high I find myself looking to shorter hemlines to keep cool in. As much as I love a midi or maxi dress, a mini dress just seems so summery. I love throwing one on with sneakers, sandals, or wedges to dress it up a bit. Here I’ve rounded up ten mini dresses to get you through the rest of summer!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Guide 2020
Happy Monday and Happy Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Day! The biggest sale of the entire year is here and I’ve narrowed down what you should pick up! Since I have a feeling we will be continuing to stay home a lot through the fall and winter I’ve focused on cozy pieces to keep you cute and comfy all winter long.
Cardigans
Starting off with cardigans, including the infamous Barefoot Dreams cardigan. This year they’ve added a cute leopard print!
Tops
I focused on cozy tops that could be worn with leggings for around the house or could easily be dressed up with jeans for when we do get to go out!
Lounge and Intimates
Lots of cute pajamas to keep you cozy! I also had to include my favorite intimates to stock up on. The Chantelle undies are the best for working out and won’t show lines through your leggings. And I usually pick up a new Natori bra during the sale. I also had to include a cozy Ugg robe. I got one last year and it’s my favorite purchase ever!
Coats and Jackets
I’m loving all of the cozy plush jackets as well as some longer styles and a cute blush rain jacket!
Boots and Booties
These Vince Camuto booties sold out last year and I wore them a ton. I also have the Marc Fischer booties that great to dress up or down. And it’s a great time to get a pair of Hunter rain boots at a discount!
Shoes
Lots of cute sneakers, flats, and heels to get you through the winter!
Accessories
I love a felt hat for fall. I also included the straw hat I’ve been wearing and the most adorable Coach bag!
Beauty
There are lots of great beauty options and its the perfect time to stock up on your faves! I tend to go for the devices and bundles that are at such a great price!

Why You Need To Double Cleanse
Now that we’ve covered using a low pH cleanser in your routine, I wanted to talk about double cleansing. Specifically, oil cleansing before you use your low pH cleanser. I always start my night routine with an oil cleanse to remove every speck of makeup, sunscreen, dirt, and pollution. I love how luxurious cleansing oils feel and how they emulsify with water and rinse away clean. I tend to prefer cleansing balms for the fact that they are easier to work with. There are some great cleansing oils out there but I don’t love how messy they can be, therefore I stick with balms.
Using an oil cleanser to remove your makeup before washing your face can have some amazing effects. I put the oil straight into my face, no water added, and massage it around. Not only does it totally melt off my makeup, I can actually feel it drawing dirt out of my pores. In fact, cleansing oils even help dislodge stubborn blackheads. Additionally, they provide moisturizing benefits.
My all time favorite oil cleansing balm is Banila Clean It Zero. It’s great for even sensitive skin, well priced, and the texture is perfect. I love the way it melts my makeup off. It also has a very light, non-irritating scent. The only thing I’m not sure about is how clean it is. I couldn’t find it ranked on any of the sites that compile that type of information.
Next I decided to try the Elemis Pro Collagen cleansing balm. This cleansing balm has a cult following so of course I had to get a mini to try out. This balm has a stronger scent, kind of spa like. It works well but maybe not as well as the Banila Clean It Zero. It’s also not clean so I probably won’t repurchase.
Next up is the Beautycounter cleansing balm. This balm is definitely clean, and it works as far as taking off makeup. But, I didn’t like the texture. It got kind of gritty and chunky after a while. It’s also pretty pricey.
Lastly, I tried the Versed cleansing balm available at Target. It’s clean, and the price is right! The travel size is only $7. But it has a very strong eucalyptus scent. I got used to it after a while but I feel like it could be irritating for some.
For now, I think I’ll stick with the Banila Clean It Zero. Although it is mineral oil based, it ranks very well on COSDNA as far as having low irritants. What do you think? Will you try oil cleansing?

Traveling With Kids
A few weeks ago we finally had the chance to take the girls to the North Woods of Wisconsin. This was our first trip up north with Ella and traveling with two kids is no joke! We brought so much stuff it felt like we were moving in! Today I wanted to share some of the item that we use when we travel that have made our lives easier.
Items We Can’t Travel Without
- Travel Crib – This Pack N Play has been great to use with both girls! This style is more simple than some of the others out there. The bassinet on top is great when they’re tiny and can be removed as they grow. It folds up into a carrying case to make it easy to load in the car.
- Blackout shades – Getting good sleep on vacation can really make or break a trip! being able to black out the windows to ensure good naps and night sleep is huge. We have these portable blackout shades to put over windows as well as a snooze shade that fits over the Pack N Play.
- White Noise – Both of our girls sleep with white noise at home so we always bring this portable white noise machine when we’re on the go.
- Diaper caddy and clutch – We have three of these diaper clutches we use them so much! One in the diaper bag, one in Matt’s care, and one for travel. When we travel we keep it in the diaper caddy. We also load the caddy up with diapers, wipes, cream, and anything else we might need handy. We put the caddy in the car somewhere we can easily access for changes on the go.
- Sun shade – This isn’t something we always bring but it is really awesome for the beach! It folds up into a bag that could easily be packed in a carry on. It’s super quick to put up and take down. We always get asked about it when we have it set up at the beach!
- Baby carrier – This baby carrier can be used from infant to age two. We got it with Margot and it’s still in great shape for Ella! I bring this up north in case we go for a hike.
- Double stroller – I only wanted one stroller ever and I’m so glad I got this one! It can be configured so many ways but now with both girls it’s been a game changer. It’s slim enough to fit through doorways and can still be folded up with the second seat attached. Either girl can sit in both seats or we can attach the infant car seat on top. It’s also all terrain. Probably the best baby purchase I made!
- Extra car seat – Ella is still in the infant car seat, but this is the extra seat we use for Margot. It’s super lightweight so perfect for moving between cars or taking on a plane.
- Hook on highchair – This is the only high chair we have. It is usually hooked onto our dining room table. It’s pretty quick to take down and apart and all the pieces fit into a little bag. So nice to take up north so Ella has a place to sit at the table!
